Competition at its peak, Swiggy Launches 15-minute Delivery app SNACC

Your urge is now driving the surge! Competitors are on the block. Just like their counterparts Zomato and Zepto have their own quick food delivery apps, Swiggy entered the wave of competition and launched their own quick food delivery app promising 15-minute food delivery. Are you craving beverages, quick bites, or meals? Well, SNACC says it’s got you covered. Though in its initial phase, SNACC will deliver the food to selected pincodes in Bangalore. The move was quickly launched after Zomato launched the same option in its own food delivery app, a quick 15-minute delivery option on the main app. However, they quietly added this option to their main app. They focused on ready to eat and quick to prepare food items that come from restaurants within a 2-kilometre radius.

Need for speed or the competition matters?

Gone are the days of patiently waiting for 30-45 minutes. We are growing impatient day by day. Or it’s the face-paced world that created this shuffle, isn’t it? And likewise, Swiggy, with its new app SNACC and Zomato through their new feature in the main app, are essentially rewriting the delivery rules. Now, 15-minute is the new normal for instant gratification. This strategy behind this definitely hits a consumer nerve, as our increasing desire for instant results. When you have a craving, you want that thing right now.

As we said, your urge is driving the surge. In modern times, the world is already fast-paced and the competition is fierce. And hence, wait times feel like an eternity. The expectation for immediate solutions has seeped into every corner of our lives, even our meals. We want something and we want it right now. But the commercial food ventures and apps such as Zomato and Zepto are quick to notice our consumerism and out of competition we have more alternatives for quick-food delivery to suffice our cravings.

More in line & existing choices:

Quick food at your fingertips. We all must have used those quick food delivery apps which promise quick delivery with real-time tracking of your order. The upcoming launch will be Zepto Cafe from Zepto which promises a crazy delivery speed of 10-minute. Bistro, owned by Zomato’s Blinkit, is already set to offer quick food deliveries. And the giant companies like Reliance has also planned to enter the line of competition, Jiomart aiming for 30-minute delivery.

Battle for market space:

Is the market getting fiercer or has it already been fierce? We, the consumers, are always curious about the question. Is this race for speed and competition is really about market space? No, the answer is to dominate. It’s a race and battle for dominance. Who will ace it? And what will be the new challenges? We don’t know the answers yet, but the quick commerce is growing rapidly.

Consistency:

The consistency is the key for anything. This applies to quick commerce too. There are two scenarios. One who delivers the fastest, or two who not only delivers with consistency but also will be able to offer more sustainable choices. Time will tell who wins this race. But right now this 15-minute food fight is far from over, and as consumers, we’re just getting started on this ride for many alternatives. The implications for consumer expectations and logistical operations and the future of the food delivery industry are immense. But only those who remain consistent and also economical will reap the benefits.

Challenges & Profitability:

On paper, everything looks easy. But the implication and application is the main challenge. From operational costs to financial challenges of maintaining an ultra-fast delivery model is never an easy task. As these platforms have to turn their ventures into profitable force. Thus, balancing speed with costs and managing inventory efficiently, may cause problems. Apart from that these platforms also have to ensure the consistency, in quality and delivery both. Thus, the question remains whether a truly profitable and sustainable business model can be built around such rapid delivery.

Conclusion:

Swiggy’s move launched on the same day as Zomato, which indicates that the competition will become more intense. While Swiggy entered the ultra-fast delivery market with ‘SNACC’, the more apps are waiting for their launch. The success of ‘SNACC’ will depend on Swiggy’s ability to efficiently deliver within the time frame of 15-minutes and still be able to maintain a profitable operation within a highly demanding market. The competition is on, and only time will tell that if this need for speed thrills or kills? However, we, the consumers will have more alternatives for the food delivery and also we hope to remain sustainable while fulfilling our cravings. Meanwhile, congratulations to Swiggy for their 15-minute food delivery app SNACC. Get your cravings fulfilled! Sayonara from Corporate Soldiers!
