After almost a decade of waiting, Tesla is finally preparing to unveil its next-generation Roadster, the most anticipated and long-delayed electric hypercar.
The Roadster will finally debut this October, as verified by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Attention is now focused on the countdown displayed on Tesla’s website.
On Tesla’s official X account, a phrase was posted – “Go for launch” with a date saying “10.01.” Musk has confirmed it himself.
But this is not simply another Tesla product launch. In 2017, Elon Musk came up with a beginning of new vehicle technology – second generation Roadster. It was promised to be delivered in 2020.
That timeline obviously did not match his words.

The original starting Tesla Roadster price was stated as $200,000 (approximately ₹1.91 crore), and the limited Elon Musk Roadster Founders Series was priced at $250,000 (approximately ₹2.39 crore). However, Tesla has yet to confirm whether these prices will remain unchanged for the 2026 production model.
Why the Timing Matters
The Tesla Roadster announcement comes at an important moment. As the company is pushing itself deeper into automated driving and robotaxis. The Biggest Question: Can Tesla Finally Deliver?
A spectacular unveiling is one thing and putting a highly ambitious carbon-fiber hypercar into mass production is another.
This potentially complex thruster system introduces additional technical and manufacturing hurdles from high-performance batteries and thermal management to lightweight carbon-fiber construction and extreme acceleration.
Recent reports suggest that the production might begin around 2027 or 2028.
That means October 1 may be less about customers receiving their Roadsters and more about Tesla showing the world what the finished vision looks like.
