The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone, bringing the company into direct competition with Samsung’s premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, launched by Samsung. The time is important: Samsung has been working on book-style foldables over the years, and Apple is entering the category with a mix of its iOS ecosystem, custom silicon and foldable-specific software.
The two gadgets appeal to the same high-end market but adopt contrastingly different strategies on the screen size, cameras, performance, software and pricing. iPhone Duo by Apple will have a much higher price in India, whereas Samsung has a bigger main screen, a separate telephoto lens and up to 16GB of memory.
The following is a comparison of the two flagship foldables in terms of specs as published by the companies.
iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Price in India
The iPhone Duo in four storage options are available in the official Apple store in India. The 256GB model starts at ₹2,99,900, followed by ₹3,24,900 for 512GB, ₹3,74,900 for 1TB and ₹4,49,900 for 2TB. The available colours are Star White and Night Sky listed by Apple.
Samsung’s India newsroom lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra at ₹1,99,999 for 12GB RAM + 256GB, ₹2,19,999 for 12GB + 512GB and ₹2,59,999 for 16GB + 1TB. Its Indian colour options are Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, Green Shadow as a Samsung.com exclusive.

That produces a large price gap at the entry-level. The iPhone Duo costs ₹99,901 more than the base Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in India. More than specifications is reflected in the difference, but Apple is also selling the device as its first foldable as part of the larger premium iPhone ecosystem.
The availability schedules are dissimilar too. Apple claims that iPhone Duo pre-orders in India start on October 16, 2026, and it will be available on October 23. Samsung began rolling out the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra on August 7, 2026, with India among the launch markets.
Design and Build
The two phones have a book-like folding design although their physical sizes differ significantly.
The iPhone Duo has a thickness of 5.2mm when it is open and 11.3mm when closed and has a weight of 254 grams. It has a frame made of grade 5 titanium and the outer display is covered by Ceramic Shield 2 and the back by Ceramic Shield. Another technology employed by Apple is a precision hinge consisting of over 100 parts and a strengthened inner display frame.

Display Comparison
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra possesses the bigger screens.
The iPhone Duo has an inner Super Retina XDR OLED folding display, which has 1,878 x 2,670 resolution with a 5.4-inch outer display, which has 1,398 x 2,034 resolution. Instead, Apple places a visual consistency between the two displays: both displays have the same aspect ratio that the content can be scaled to between the folded and unfolded display.
Later in 2026, Apple is also introducing Apple Pencil support over USB-C to enable users to write, sketch and annotate on either display.
Performance: A20 Pro vs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy
The iPhone Duo has an A20 Pro, which is manufactured on a 2-nanometre process. Apple indicates a six-core CPU comprising two performance cores and four efficiency cores, a seven-core graphics chip with Neural Accelerators, ray tracing that is hardware-accelerated and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple claims that the A20 Pro provides up to 35 percent sustained performance compared to the iPhone 17 Pro, and its CPU is up to 20 percent faster than A19 Pro and its graphics card is up to 40 percent faster.
